Living mind psychotherapy
Integrating mind, body, and soul for better mental health
Joanna Walling, MA, LMFT, SEP
Offering talk therapy and somatic body-based therapy
I believe effective psychotherapy only occurs through a trusting relationship. Fostered through deep listening in our sessions, I set out to learn your unique story and apply my training, experience, and expertise.
I primarily work with individuals and couples in my practice. I have specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic psychotherapy as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and depth psychology. My practice is based on integrative approaches to psychotherapy.
In addition to talk therapy I also offer body-based somatic practices to support nervous system regulation. Talk therapy provides us space to explore how thoughts, feelings, and beliefs impact our psychological well-being and offers approaches to healing through cognitive restructuring and behavioral changes. Additionally, explorations of personal meanings, values-aligned purpose, and familial relational patterns that affect our unconscious selves become a primary focus for healing our inner mind and our outside relationship.
Somatic therapy provides us with tools to integrate all the wisdom that is gained through cognitive talk therapy into the nervous system, and into the body, with the goal of accessing new life experiences and a sense of cohesion and wholeness.

An approach to therapy…
Integrating mind, body, and soul
Traumatic life experiences can break trust. Repairing that trust is facilitated through one’s relationship with others.
In order to restore the path towards wholeness we must work together. Psychotherapy is a place where you can rediscover your strength, resilience, and free up the inner entanglements.
I approach therapy with an integrative eye and ear, which means I tailor the treatment to support your unique emotional, cognitive, and psychological well-being so that you feel seen, heard, and understood.
I use the following modalities and theories (* specialized certifications) in my practice:
Somatic psychotherapy *
Mindfulness-based CBT *
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy
Attachment theory and affective neuroscience *
Transpersonal and spiritual perspectives
Jungian-oriented dream exploration *
Psychodynamic psychotherapy *
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I aim to provide a safe, affirmative space for individuals of marginalized indigenous and spiritual groups, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ clients. I am influenced by Buddhist and Sufi spiritual practices, multi-cultural and cross-cultural studies, intergenerational trauma, and a feminist approach to power dynamics.
